Laser Hair Removal
FAQ's

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a powerful laser to reduce unwanted hair. The laser light is absorbed by melanin which is the pigment found within hair and skin. This then creates heat, which destroys the hair follicle, resulting in its inability to grow back.

How many treatments will I need?

We advise that a minimum of 8 sessions will be required. For some people this may be enough. Others may need additional treatments and more frequent maintenance top ups.

How long do treatments take and how often will I have them?

The average treatment time per small area is as little as 5-10 minutes. For medium/larger areas average treatment time is 15-30 minutes. Your sessions will begin at 4-6 week intervals. The gap between sessions will slowly increase as hair growth reduces and slows down. This could increase to 8/10/12 weeks. This will be different for everyone and your treatment plan is catered to you and your success.

When will I see results?

You will likely notice some results after your first session. However this can vary per individual. Hairs that are richer and have deeper roots will take longer for noticeable results.

Does it hurt?

Our machine has crystal freeze technology. The tip of the laser handle completely ices over during treatment. This helps to keep pain levels to a minimum. In more sensitive areas you will likely feel small zaps of heat, some discomfort may be felt but it should never be unbearable.

Does it work on light/red hair?

This treatment is recommended for darker hairs. Lighter hair colours such as grey, blonde or red have less melanin present. As the destruction of the hair follicles lies with the heat generated from the melanin present in the hair, treatment effectiveness for these hair colours is extremely low.

Is this suitable for darker skin?

Yes. Our machine can treat all skin types.

What areas can be treated?

You can have laser hair removal on almost any external area of the face or body where you have dark unwanted hairs.

Can I shave between appointments?

Yes! Shaving is the only method of hair removal you can use whilst undergoing your sessions. We do recommend that you don't over shave though!

Can I have laser hair removal over tattoos?

No, unfortunately we are unable to treat over any tattoos, open wounds or moles with our laser. We can treat around these.

Can I have treatment during my menstrual cycle?

Absolutely! Wear a tampon and treatment can still be carried out. Just bear in mind that some people may find it more sensitive during this time.

Can I go on holiday/ use sun beds whilst having this treatment.

You must avoid UV exposure for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your laser appointment. Schedule your appointments around this.
